Signal or Noise?

You know my thoughts on forecasting – it’s hard and rarely useful.

Below is a chart from the Atlanta Fed outlining their predictions of GDP.

In the span of two months they have gone from 5.4% to 2%.

This is what I call noise and not much else. So when you hear a talking head in the financial media tout this metric, turn away – fast!
